General FAQs
What grades are offered by Coast to Mountains Preparatory Academy (CM Prep)?
CM Prep offers full-time enrollment for students in grades K–12.
What subjects will my child study?
The core courses are English/language arts, math, science, and history. There are also other courses in the appropriate grade levels, such as art, health/PE, music, and world languages. For more details, visit our elementary, middle school, and high school curriculum pages.
What does it cost to attend CM Prep?
Coast to Mountains Preparatory Academy (CM Prep) has worked hard to offer private school prices that respect the commitment and investment families make when they enroll their children in private school. Visit our tuition page to learn more.
Are there tuition assistance or financial aid options?
CM Prep is committed to providing all children access to quality educational opportunities. Currently, two scholarship opportunities are available for eligible North Carolina students interested in attending CM Prep. Awards can often cover the full cost of tuition for eligible families! Visit our scholarship page for more program details, eligibility information, and how to apply.
Does CM Prep provide textbooks and other instructional materials?
Yes. We provide textbooks and instructional materials needed to complete the program. These books and materials depend on the student’s grade level and the courses they’re enrolled in. High school students receive fewer books and materials than elementary and middle school students.
Can my child work at their own pace?
While all grades have minimum progress and pacing requirements, some advancement and flexible pacing options exist.
How much time do students spend on the computer?
In the younger grades, many of the online lessons include offline work. Elementary students spend about 50–60% of their time online. Screen time increases in middle school, and by high school, most of the school day is online.
Do you provide curriculum for children with special needs?
Depending on a child’s IEP, we can tailor your child’s learning experience to meet their needs. Visit the Special Programs page for more information, or please contact Special Education Administrator Sandi Brueck at sbrueck@K12.com to discuss your child’s needs.
Can you accommodate the accelerated learning needs of my advanced learner?
The beauty of our program is that it is flexible enough to meet children where they are in any given subject and take them where they want to go. Grade placement assessments, completed as part of the enrollment process, allow us to place your student in the appropriate level of curriculum.
How do students interact socially?
Students spend time with classmates online and through other extracurricular activities. School-based clubs and K12 online national clubs provide various social opportunities for students to connect with like-minded interests and passions. Students can also attend in-person instruction sessions at our Apex location.
Will this program intrude into my home?
There are no home visits as part of the program and no other intrusions into your home. This school was created to help your child obtain a first-class education and serve your family’s needs. If you ever feel it is not right for your family or child, you can withdraw at any time.
